About Lynne
I grew up in Sudbury, a small suburb of Boston, Mass. I graduated in 1990 from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School and in 1994 from Wellesley College with a degree in biology. I then attended Vanderbilt University as a graduate student. I received my Ph.D. in cell biology from Vanderbilt in 1997.
As much as I enjoyed studying science, I decided not to continue with lab research after I finished my education. Instead, I started writing for children!
My first publications for children were poems, including many poems published in Ladybug magazine. In 2001, I got the exciting news that Henry Holt wanted to publish my first book, Duck Skates. Duck Skates was published in 2005, illustrated by Hiroe Nakata. The Curious Demise of a Contrary Cat, illustrated by Luke LaMarca, was published by Simon & Schuster in 2006. Duck Dunks, also illustrated by Hiroe Nakata, was published in 2008; Duck Tents will be published in 2009; and Duck Wheels in 2010.
I am always working on new stories, and hope to announce soon that I have more books on the way--including more books illustrated by the wonderfully talented Hiroe Nakata and Luke LaMarca!
I still live in Nashville, Tenn., with my husband, five dogs, two cats, and a variety of fish. Aside from reading and writing, some of my favorite things to do are yoga, tie-dying, eating peanut butter sandwiches, and taking trips to the park with my husband and my dogs.
