What you will need:

• Craft sticks or tongue depressors
• Large pom-poms (for the duck body)
• Small pom-poms (for the duck head)
• Googly-eyes
• Small heart-shaped punch-outs (for the duck's beak and feet)
• Glue (craft glue or "tacky" glue is best, but Elmer's-style white glue is fine)

1. Pour a pool of glue onto a paper plate or other container.
2. Touch one side of one end of the craft stick into the glue. Flip the stick and touch the other side of the same end of the craft stick into the glue.
3. Place a LARGE pom-pom in the glue on one side of the stick. This is the duck's body.
4. Place a SMALL pom-pom in the glue on the other side of the stick. This is the duck's head.
5. Glue googly-eyes onto the duck's head. A good way for younger children, with developing small motor skills, to manage this step:
• Use a Q-tip, lollipop stick, or the flat end of a pen or a crayon.
• Dip this implement into the glue, then touch to the duck's head, to place spots of glue where the eyes will go.
• Place googly eyes, eye-side up, on the table or desk.
• Lick a finger, touch this finger to one of the eyes, and transfer eye to a glue spot. Repeat for second eye.
6. Glue one heart-shaped punch-out, point-side out, onto the duck's head for a beak. Demonstrate for younger children:
   • Hold point of heart.
   • Dip rounded end of heart in glue.
   • Place heart on duck's head.
7. Glue two heart-shaped punch-outs, point-side in, onto the bottom of the duck's body for feet. Demonstrate for younger children:
   • Hold rounded end of heart.
   • Dip one side of the point of the heart in glue.
   • Place heart on bottom of duck's body.
   • Repeat for second foot.
